The mystery of the mouse that died of smoke inhalation nowhere near a fire

I looked through the microscope at the insides of a dead smoky mouse, and could barely believe my eyes. Thousands of tiny smoke particles lined its lungs. But the mouse had been kept more than 50 kilometres from the nearest bushfires, writes Andrew Peters.
