Colombian pop star Shakira has reached a settlement to avoid a trial in Barcelona.
The 46-year-old was facing charges alleging she failed to pay $15 million in Spanish income tax between 2012 and 2014.
As part of the deal, she has accepted the charges and a fine, amounting to half of the sum owed.
The prosecutor was seeking up to an eight-year prison term and to claim back the taxes she would supposedly owe.
The claim is based on Shakira allegedly spending more than half of each of the years in question in Spain and was therefore a resident of the country.
The singer vowed to fight what she has labelled as false accusations.
