Labor’s EV strategy only helping the ‘wealthiest Australians’

Chris Bowen s EV strategy is in trouble as government department officials predict electric cars will make up 27 per cent of new car sales by 2030. This is despite the target based on RepuTex modelling being at 89 per cent. Nationals Senator Matt Canavan said he wishes the government “had a target to bring down the cost-of-living” rather than artificially boosting the number of electric vehicles. Only a third of Australians are going to be able to afford an electric car, he said. “These statistics show that the government’s strategy to deal with the cost of living is only helping the wealthiest Australians.”
