NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb insists she is not “shying away” from her responsibilities as she defends her handling of an alleged double murder at the hands of a serving police officer.
The Commissioner has come under intense scrutiny over her leadership following the alleged killing of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies by NSW Police constable Beau Lamarre-Condon.
Speaking on breakfast radio this morning, Commissioner Webb referenced lyrics to Taylor Swift s song Shake It Off to brush off criticism.
“This is not about me. This is really about Jesse and Luke’s family, and my thoughts and condolences are with that family at the moment,” she told Sky News Australia.
“They have flown in from interstate, if they are watching this program, I want them to know that the efforts of the New South Wales Police Force are focused on finding their family members.”
