Former Liberal political strategist Yaron Finkelstein says Scott Morrison’s retirement has allowed others to reflect on his “contribution” during his time in politics.
The former prime minister delivered his valedictory speech to parliament following the announcement of his retirement in January.
Mr Morrison was prime minister from 2018 to the 2022 federal election and has represented the seat of Cook in the Sutherland Shire since 2007.
“He’s got these extraordinary opportunities – particularly in the United States,” Mr Finkelstein told Sky News Australia.
“Where they have genuinely appreciated the critical role he played in creating AUKUS.”
