Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney says there is data which shows a conviction of Donald Trump would help Joe Biden’s election chances.
As many as a third of Republican voters say they won t vote for Donald Trump if he is a convicted felon.
“That certainly would help Joe Biden if Donald Trump does get convicted,” Mr Mulvaney told Sky News Australia.
“It’s not going to help Nikki Haley, because the way our primary system works here is they go by delegates.
“Even if he’s in jail, they are still going to be nominating him at the Republican convention to be the Republican candidate.
“Unless I’m missing something really major, Donald Trump is going to be the Republican nominee for president in the United States of America later this month.”
